Information for Hamboree volunteers.
If you have not already registered to work the
Hamboree, please contact John Vecchio at 305-301-7139.
Our most dire need at this time is a reliable crew to help with setup
of tables on Thursday February 2nd and teardown on February 5th. Yes, this
is physical work. The more folks we have, the faster we'll get it done.
Those of us in committee shirts will be out there sweating next to you!
This decision to setup our own tables and take them down has been one of
the most significant things we have done this year to save the show. It's
manual labor but its also what has saved us thousands of dollars on setup
that where needed to fund other parts of the show.
We are also in need of folks to man the ticket booths throughout the
weekend. If you'd like to help but can't lug tables around this may be the
job for you.
This show cannot exist without volunteers. The Dade Radio Club uses all
the proceeds generated from the Hamboree to run the following years
Hamboree. The reason we can have a big show is because of our volunteer
staff and through careful management of our resources.
Our staff (our volunteers) will be covered for breakfast, lunch, and
dinner on Saturday and for breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Volunteer staff
also gets the privilege of free entrance to the show and premium parking
right near the building. Those of us that buy lots of stuff know how
valuable this can be when you don't have to lug your stuff halfway across
a parking lot! All volunteer assignments are to be handled by the manpower
chairman, John Vecchio.
By the same token that we extend many courtesies to our staff, we frown
upon folks that do not volunteer and then wish to take advantage of
resources. "freeloading" hurts the whole show. Its not just a
sandwich or a soda, it's the fact that those things are provided as a
token of appreciation to those that help keep the show alive and volunteer
THEIR time to make the Hamboree happen.
All volunteers will be given a tyvek wristband to identify them as part
of our crew. Don't worry, a new wristband will be provided to you everyday
so you don't have to wear the same old one all weekend long. Just see John
Vecchio or Robert Cruz for a new wristband. The wristband will not only
help identify you as a volunteer to other crew members but is also what
will get you into the committee parking area and will get you your meals.
Saturday night dinner will be handled by RSVP and is for volunteers (and
their significant other) that have signed up for assignment with the
manpower chairman.
Once again, "Thank You" to all those volunteers that make the
Hamboree the great show that it is.
Robert Cruz
2006 Hamboree Chairman
